Steve Meiners recently ran across Jim Spangler, former Crest Foods Engineering Manager. Jim was out in the yard calmly watering the grass. He says, these days he hangs around home and “piddles around” a lot. His home in Franklin Grove looks great. You can tell he dedicated plenty of time to upkeep!
Yardwork and home improvement are not his passion though. Woodworking is! For a time after retirement he made lots and lots of pet coffins in his fully equipped shop. “That was too much like work,” according to Jim. Now he crafts things like bowls or cutting boards. He has even taken up making signs, but Jim was quick to point out his works are not for sale. He makes things and gives them away. Good for you Jim!
Jim and Glenayce are doing well. He only regrets that his kids, grandkids and now great grandkids don’t live very close by.
