Raymelyne previously lived in Chicago and said that living in the Ashton/Franklin Grove area is a nice change of pace. Her family is Haitian, making her Haitian-American and she tries to stay in touch with that side of her heritage by listening to her favorite Haitian music. Raymelyne started at Crest when she was 18 and said this is her first “real world” job. She’s been here for two years now. She started as a “runner” and recently earned a promotion to the Line Operator’s Assistant position. Congratulations on the promotion and the recent EMR certification!
When we asked Raymelyne what made her decide to take the EMR course, she said her first thought was her family. What if someone started choking? What would I do? And then she thought the same of anyone else around her. She would hate for someone to be hurt and not be able to do something about it.
Raymelyne’s only experience with first aid, AEDs or CPR before taking this course was a basic First Aid/CPR course offered here at Crest last year. She learned many additional skills during this course but hopes she never has to use these skills to respond to an amputation. So for your sake, and Raymelyne’s, be sure to follow our Lockout/Tagout policy!
We asked Raymelyne what she liked or enjoyed most about the course and she mentioned the small class size and the ease of starting conversations with the others taking the course. She disliked the lack of sleep that she got while taking the course. She had to juggle working full time, her courses at Sauk and the EMR class which was every Tuesday and Thursday night, 5:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. for ten weeks! Yes, being certified as an Emergency Medical Responder is a big commitment!
We thank Raymelyne, and all of our other EMRs for making this commitment and being a part of the Crest team!
